Tomorrow, the Port of San Francisco will share information about the Seawall Program and their work to create a more sustainable and resilient waterfront by addressing immediate life safety upgrades. The event will take approximately 90 minutes, including remarks by Port Executive Director Elaine Forbes and President of the Port Commission Kimberly Brandon and a walking tour along the Embarcadero Seawall, which always has great photo opportunities. RSVP to Kelley.McCoy@sfport.com.
The Port is leading the Seawall Earthquake Safety and Disaster Prevention Program, a citywide effort to strengthen the Seawall. Built in 1879, the Embarcadero Seawall is one of San Franciscoâs oldest pieces of infrastructure. For more than a century the Seawall has served us well, but it is now in need of significant improvements to withstand the next major earthquake and protect us from an increase in flooding from sea level rise.
