Let’s Glow SF

Let’s Glow SF, produced and funded by Downtown SF and made in partnership with A3 Visual, is a free projection mapping event that uses video projection techniques with light and colors to project virtual images from local and international artists onto iconic buildings throughout San Francisco’s Financial District. As the largest holiday projection mapping event in the U.S., this stunning journey of light will feature the works of local and international artists while celebrating the festive winter season in the heart of San Francisco. A striking marriage of art and technology will create a whimsical, COVID-safe event for all with its five-minute shows projected on each building.

King Tides Embarcadero Walk
Saturday, Dec. 4 from 10:15 to 11:15 am
Between Piers 3 & 5 on Bay side of Embarcadero

Join Exploratorium educator Lori Lambertson and Port of San Francisco staff for a stroll along the San Francisco waterfront to observe, photograph, and discuss the king tide. Find out what causes the tides and why we have king tides at this time of year, and learn about the Port’s Waterfront Resilience Program and related sea level rise and resilience projects. We’ll meet rain or shine. Come see the future!

This event is free, and museum entrance is not included. The king tide walk is presented in conjunction with Glow Fest—join us at the Exploratorium to learn more about king tides, the pull of the moon, and the science of light. Participants are requested to wear masks during this event.

The high tide predicted at Pier 41 is 7.33 feet at 10:43 a.m. PST.

Glow: Discover the Art of Light

Light up with delight this winter! Visible light inspires us across cultures, reveals nature’s beauty, and contains clues to the history of space and time. Glow: Discover the Art of Light is a collection of ten luminous sculptures big and small inviting you to connect to, reflect on, and interact with light. Hear from select Glow artists about their work and dive into the processes that light up their sculptures. Also, enjoy a special performance beneath Luke Jerram’s Museum of the Moon from pianist Tammy Lynne Hall and soprano Leberta Lorál. Don’t miss this joyful seasonal expansion of the Exploratorium’s iconic exhibits on light. Glow features artworks by Michael Brown, CHiKA, Nick Dong, Alicia Eggert, Ekene Ijeoma, Luke Jerram, Burt Libe, and Ames Palms.
