Public Meeting on 88 Broadway Affordable Housing October 17th

If you’re interested in an update about the affordable housing development planned for 88 Broadway (at Front Street), a public meeting is scheduled for 6 PM on Monday, October 17 at Pier 1. This project, which has been approved and will be developed by the John Stewart Company, will include apartments for seniors, families, moderate-income residents and people who were formerly homeless.

The number of units, potential parking spaces and exterior building surfaces will be discussed at the meeting. The Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development would like the number of units to increase to 191, including more moderate-income apartments. The Port is asking for 95 below-grade parking spaces instead of 10, but the Planning Department opposes this request. The meeting will include a visual presentation showing 88 Broadway in a setting that includes the proposed Teatro ZinZanni theater and hotel so the public can get a sense of how the two projects would look together.  You can find more details about the history of the project on Hoodline.
